Shakib Al Hasan Appointed New Bangladesh ODI Captain: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed experienced all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan as the captain of the team keeping in mind the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup. Shakib has already taken over the responsibility of captaining the team. Earlier, Tamim Iqbal was handling this responsibility. Shakib will take over the captaincy of the team in all three formats after a long gap of 12 years.
Shakib Al Hasan was currently captaining the team in T20 and Test. In the 2011 ODI World Cup, the Bangladesh team played under the leadership of Shakib Al Hasan. From 2009 to 2011, Shakib took the responsibility of captaining the Bangladesh team continuously in ODIs. Under the ODI captaincy of Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh team has played 50 matches so far, in which it has won 23 while the team has faced defeat in 26.
Announcing the appointment of Shakib as the captain, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan said in a press conference that we have appointed Shakib as the captain for the Asia Cup and the World Cup. At the same time, the selectors will announce the 17-member Bangladesh team for both these tournaments on August 12.
Bangladesh team will play first match in Asia Cup on August 31
In the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, Bangladesh team will play its first match against Sri Lanka on 31 August at Pallekele Stadium. After this, the team will play against Afghanistan on 3 September at the Lahore stadium. ODI World Cup Before Bangladesh, the Bangladesh team also has to play a 3-match ODI series against New Zealand at home, which will start from 21 September. At the same time, in the World Cup, the team will play its first match against Afghanistan on October 7 at the stadium in Dharamshala.
